Registration: SPEF Responds to Community Feedback with an Updated Summer School Registration Process

Have you ever spent the day standing in line to ensure that your child gets the summer school class he or she really wants (or needs)?  Wait no longer.  In response to parent feedback, SPEF will institute a modified registration process this year, designed to meet the needs of busy families.

This year, you may drop by the SPEF Office (located at 1020 El Centro Avenue, Room 3) beginning at 6:00 AM on the Priority Walk-In Registration Day to pick up a ‘line number.’  Just bring the completed summer school application to receive a number and time (5:30 PM or later that day) to return and line up outside of the Board Room at the same address.  Then you are free to go about your business for the remainder of the day.

The line number acts as a place-holder in line.  (Think Southwest Airlines!)  You must be in your numbered place in line at the designated time on the Priority Walk-In Registration Day or risk losing your place in line.

SPEF has made another change to the registration process in an effort to ensure fair access to all classes.  One person may take numbers for as many students as they’d like from up to two families (two different addresses). Line numbers will only be given after reviewing and checking that the summer school application is complete and correct.  SPEF staff will be available to answer questions and assist in completing application materials as needed.

Priority Walk-In Registration is available to SPUSD students only and will be held on the following days:

Elementary (incoming K-grade 4)                                         April 9
Intermediate (incoming grades 5-8)                                     April 16
High School (incoming Seniors & Juniors)                             April 23
High School (incoming Sophomores & Freshmen)                 April 30

As in the past, classes will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
